Dois Córregos, with 27,512 inhabitants, according to estimates from IBGE/2020, and which has had the title of MIT (Municipality of Tourist Interest) since February 2019. Known by its name of National Capital of Macadamia and, due to its artistic gifts, also National Capital of Poetry, Dois Córregos is a destination that has attractions for all tastes, benefiting from the mighty Tietê River, and is 265 km away from the Capital.
The geography of the region helps a lot. In addition to water parks with swimming pools and water slides for the whole family, around the city there are 20 waterfalls, freshwater beaches and beautiful landscapes for visitors who practice adventure sports, rural tourism with rural cycling and ecotourism.
Gastronomic Tourism is a highlight in this municipality. In addition to chuleta, artisanal ice cream and goiabada cascão that are typical of local cuisine, macadamia nuts are the local star. This is a variety of nut originating in Australia, and the city is one of the three largest producers in Brazil (35% of the total) and the largest in the State of São Paulo. The harvest of this nut lasts from January to July and in Dois Córregos, the best-selling treat is Caramelized Macadamia Ice Cream. Since 2013, the Macadâmia Festival has been held, with three days of shows, lectures and gastronomy competitions, in the second half of the year and with free entry.
